Tournament & Equipment Rules & Policies

Tournament Rules

The set of rules used for each Training Legends tournament is determined by the type of tournament play (Travel, All-Star, or All-Star Championship).

Equipment Rules

Safety
  • The catcher’s helmet must be NOCSAE approved.
  • We strongly recommend that ALL people on the field (e.g., players, coaches, assistant coaches, umpires, and bat boys) wear protective gear such as helmets and protective cups. Failure to do so is at your own risk.
  • Players and coaches are responsible for making sure that all equipment is in good and proper working order prior to its use in the tournament.
Bats
  • All 14U and 15U must use drop 3 (-3) or a legal wood bat
  • All 13U players must use an approved bat that is no lighter than drop 5 (-5).
  • If a 13U team is playing up in 14U or higher, the 13U players must use bats which comply with 14U rules, which means an approved BBCOR bat or a legal wood bat.
  • Training Legends allows the use of both:
    • The existing USSSA BPF 1.15 Standard
    • The use of the new USA Bat Standard
    • Legal wood bats
  • List of banned bats can be found below the rules sheet on our rules page.

Dugout and Field Safety

  • No buckets, stools, or other items or equipment may be outside of the dugout when the ball is in play.
  • All players, coaches, bat boys, and personnel are to stay in the dugout while the ball is in play, with the exception of the batter who is on deck.
  • The batter who is on deck is to be in the warm up circle and in a position to pay very close attention to the activities on the field so as to avoid injury.
  • It is recommended that all coaches wear protective helmets when on the field.
  • Failure to follow these rules is at your own risk.
